L’aéroport Santos-Dumont, construit en 1937 par les frères Roberto en bordure du centre-ville de Rio de Janeiro, est un exemple remarquable de l’architecture moderniste brésilienne. Il a servi de décor à un parcours chorégraphique qui interagissait avec ses caractéristiques spatiales et formelles. Proposée sous la forme d’une traversée, de l’entrée nord de l’aéroport au belvédère sur les pistes, la danse déployait des propositions intimes ou spectaculaires dans les espaces publics.
J'ai proposé une improvisation sur le thème de l’au-revoir, à la porte des départs, interprétée par Nedjma Merahi et Wesley Anchieta Carneiro. L’idée était de confronter la dynamique des flux de voyageurs à la lenteur sentimentale de deux amants s’effondrant doucement au sol, un contraste saisissant, inspiré du langage du Tanztheater de Pina Bausch.
Santos Dumont Airport, built in 1937 by the Roberto brothers on the edge of downtown Rio de Janeiro, is a remarkable example of Brazilian modernist architecture. It served as the setting for a choreographic journey that interacted with its spatial and formal characteristics. Presented as a crossing, from the airport’s north entrance to the viewpoint overlooking the runways, the dance unfolded intimate and spectacular proposals in public spaces.

The idea was to contrast the dynamic flow of travelers with the sentimental slowness of two lovers gently collapsing to the ground—a striking contrast inspired by the language of Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater.
