Le film se compose de deux parties. Dans la première, une image noire laisse place à la voix qui raconte l’histoire de l’appareil photographique d’Anne-Marie Garat. La deuxième partie s’ouvre sur un ballet de bateaux traversant le Gange à Bénarès, en Inde. Entre ces deux séquences – entre le balancement des mots du récit et celui des embarcations sur le fleuve – se déploient la tension du souvenir et le travail de la mémoire.
The film is composed of two parts. In the first, a black image gives way to a voice recounting the story of Anne-Marie Garat's camera. The second part opens with a ballet of boats crossing the Ganges in Varanasi, India. Between these two sequences – between the swaying of the words in the narrative and the swaying of the boats on the river – unfolds the tension of memory and the work of recollection.
